Do you want to fall in love with teaching again?

So many people are leaving the teaching profession at the moment, it can be a planned career change, but what I see most of all is passionate teachers loosing their motivation due to additional stress of constant curriculum changes and focus upheavals. Or their School’s leadership is loosing touch with the teachers who have built years of expertise in teaching children of all different year groups and who truly understand and love their profession.

My hope is to inspire you and make any changes clearer for you. Highlighting the important focuses for the EYFS and Year 1 curriculum and provide you with resources and easy to replicate ideas  that will allow you to spend less time planning and replanning and more time doing what you LOVE….. Teaching!

It gives me great pleasure to introduce myself. My name is Rebecca Underwood. I live in North Somerset. I am married to Mark and we have 2 wonderful children; Ruby, 17 and Josh, 15.

Rebecca UnderwoodI have been a passionate teacher, Assistant Head Teacher and Co-Head Teacher throughout my successful 23 year career. I have taught children across all Key Stages and have particular interests in the Early Years, inspiring children to become writers, promoting independence and self-motivation, Growth Mindset, Physical Education and Curriculum design. I love being a teacher and I love working with children and passionate educators.

I have recently been Co-Head of School at a small school near Clevedon, Bristol.  I also taught as a Reception and Year 1 teacher and found my niche for all things EYFS as well as focusing on the importance of effective transition to KS1.  I have also enjoyed roles such as Lead Associate across a South West Multi Academy Trust, SAT Moderator for Bristol, INSET facilitator across the South West and Wales and enthusiastic educational online influencer.  I love sharing provision ideas and best practise through my Facebook page: Mrs Underwood: EYFS and KS1 which now has almost 70,000 followers. I do enjoy inspiring others; adults and children alike.

I am looking forward to my new role as Head of Professional Learning for The Avanti Schools Trust UK.  I cannot wait to tell you more about this role as it develops. The Avanti Institute, our bespoke in-house CPD programme has already launched and is evolving each day. Do follow visit our website for more information: Avanti Institute – Part of the Avanti Schools Trust

I am a dedicated and energetic team member and a highly motivated and enthusiastic educator who yearns for all children to be successful learners within an organised and thriving environment. I believe strongly in the power of diversity and the innate potential of every child. I value inclusion and actively seek to discover the unique voice of each child as they develop throughout their primary education.  My aim is to inspire a love of learning, to encourage creativity and to promote positive choices for children to successfully access their onward journeys as happy and well-rounded citizens.

I am so excited to share this website with you. I have great support and tech advice from my dear friend and website creator, William Shelton – I could not have done this without him.

I hope that you enjoy this site and that it offers support and a little inspiration for you all. Do contact me, do ask questions, do say hello! It really is a pleasure to have you here…..
